My friends and I celebrated the release of AC Slater’s Jack Got Jacked EP Friday night at Otherside Cafe. We drank several pitchers and ate an overpriced basket of chips. Red Foxx who is part of Palms Out (they released the EP) and one third of Hearthrob showed up for the celebration and ate a sandwich of some sort. Then we bought a handle of vodka and some overpriced Miller Lite, went to a party, and broke a wine glass during an intense game of slap hands. I don’t know if that’s the actual name of the game, but it’s the game where one person tries to slap the other person’s hands while the other person does his best to move his delicate fingers out of the way. The kicker being that if you flinch too much you get slapped anyway. You know, that one. My friend cheated masterfully and my hands became lobster colored, which is to say, red. That prompted a guy from Spain to call me “lobster hands.” One of our friends got too drunk so we left and she threw up in the street a bunch. I bought some New York Pizza with my girlfriend which led to an intense stomach ache that was ultimately cured by a good night’s sleep. The next night we partied in a mansion while listening to a wonderfully innocent mix of Cardigans, current hip hop, and rock. Everyone had a great time; I don’t think anyone threw up.

That’s a true story, except for the part about celebrating the release of AC Slater’s new EP. We were just at Otherside to have a good time. Tonight is the night for celebrating the AC Slater release.

AC Slater will be joined by B Rich and Hearthrob tonight at the Middlesex Lounge. $5 cover.

Monday and Tuesday are going to be tiring. Monday is MSTRKRFT with LA Riots, Felix Cartal, and Congo Rock at the Estate. Tickets are $20, which is pretty steep but it might be a necessary $20 to part with. Buy tickets.

Then on Tuesday AC Slater and B Rich join Hearthrob at Middlesex. As usual, cover is $5 which is four times more reasonable than the Estate cover.

Right now in Washington your congressman or woman is deciding whether or not to give our $700 billion to the Treasury and Hank Paulson (featured right) in order to bail out AIG everyone. Since Saturday’s Death Set show I’ve been listening to Op Ivy pretty steadily and Artificial Life seems pretty appropriate, if for nothing else, its chorus.

If all this economic woe worries you then I recommend you drown out your fears with booze and music – it’s the only responsible method to combat potential economic deterioration. Spend your diminishing dollar with Hearthrob and the gang:

Whether you got tickets or not you can bathe in the afterglow and throw shit down with Heartache, Red Foxx, and DJ Die Young on the decks playing electro and house…
