Sans Terre: Green Children

What does it mean that I would be more interested in all of the unusable footage that was not shown in this video than the video itself? I had a dear friend who went to India and Bangladesh for a while and as a result of such dire levels of poverty and human rights violations she had a mental breakdown. Apparently things are not just bad but Lovecraftian in terms of horribleness. I suppose we should be thankful for Milla Sunde (age: 25) and Tom Bevan (age: 24), who together form the international philanthropic music charity group The Green Children (signed to Universal Music in 2008). Using the proceeds from their only song, “Hear me now” these two provided $500,000 to the 2006 nobel peace prize winner Muhammad Yunus, the father of microcredit and founder of Grameen Bank. Yunus used the money to open and operate one of the first eye hospitals in rural Bangladesh. The only part that is worrisome about this group is that there is not one word of criticism for them. Not one.

First: philanthropy masks oppressive means. But everybody should know that by now. Nietzsche said it and Slate said it. More importantly though are the two green children of Woolpit. These were two kids who had green skin and claimed to come from inside the Earth, which is hollow. But everybody knows that the earth is hollow. Hitler knew it, Pynchon knew it and E.Bulwer Lytton knew it.
