Had to come back to this post again - there's too much to take in on first read: youth, art, drugs and death. I also wanted to listen to the song again - great piece.

Upon reading again, I like your word choice of 'urgency' more and more to describe the zeitgeist that Dash (and others) play upon. The root word, urge, pretty accurately describes the vague-but-compelling sense of momentum that seems to drive individuals from youth to death (and hopefully to drugs and art somewhere between them). I can't decide though, whether I see Dash as a casualty of this urgency, or as someone who truly managed to reject its grip on him.

If I'm to take anything from Dash's death, or his life, or his work, it's that as long as my urges are there to keep me company, I'd like to get to know them better. I plan to start with the urge to have some water and the urge to pee - which came first anyways?
