Psychedelic Egg Nog [free show + more]

Psychedelic Eggnog is tonight in the Pozen Center at Massart (map). The flyer says, “absolutely no alcohol – FREE!!!” which I assume means absolutely no free alcohol†. The weather says cold so warm up with some spiced egg nog. Here are two ‘nog recipies to get you to and from the show unscathed by the winter freeze.

1. The Difficult One: Williamsburg recipe

  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 cup rum
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup whisky
  • 3/4 – 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp nutmeg

Separate the eggs (yolk and white) Set the white aside. Mix yolks well, gradually adding the cream, milk, and sugar. Get back to the egg white – WHIP IT until “soft peaks” form. Fold the white into the rest. Gradually add the alcohol. Either add nutmeg right away, or sprinkle on top later. AGE for at least 2 hours in refrigerator, uncovered. Remove from refrigerator, pour in thermos and head to Pozen

2. The Less Difficult One: Kalhua recipe

  • 1 oz Kahlua® coffee liqueur
  • 4 oz eggnog
  • nutmeg to taste

Mix kahlua with eggnog in a glass, pour in a thermos, sprinkle nutmeg on top, leave for Pozen.

†I don’t really assume this…it means no alcohol at PE or Pozen.
