Mixwit Dead, Music On The Cheap At Amie Street
Mixwit Is Dead
People should start betting on the over/under for how long a mixtape website will last before getting pinched by the RIAA. If they do – they might already – always take the under.
Radley and Mike of Mixwit sent out an email detailing their decision. Here’s an exerpt:
We regret to announce that Mixwit will cease to exist at the end of the
year. The website and profiles will be turned off around Dec 27th and
all embedded widgets will stop playing before the end of December. We’ve put a year of work into Mixwit so this choice wasn’t taken lightly. I
won’t go into the details of our situation but state simply that we
boldly marched into in a position best described as “between a rock and a
hard place.” (emphasis added – Aaron)
Amie Street “Best Of 2008″ 50% Off
In more spirited news, Amie Street is offering any album on end “best of” list for 2008 at 50%. I’ve used Amie Street before and although it’s not perfect (see: not free), you have to give them credit for trying something new.
Plus, if you’re quick you can get legal music for next to nothing and then sell it “used” on Bopaboo for a profit.
