The Beginning of the End With the Crystal Stilts, Live @ Great Scott – 12.08.08

The butt of my Levi’s are wearing through in two spots. Holes – large, gaping holes – are the inevitable end of my relationship with each pair of jeans I’ve owned. The pair that is wearing through are only about a month old so you could imagine that the sudden signs that our relationship has started to end are a bit unsettling. I think I’m falling for them, but I’m afraid to because I know we’re not going to last.

Brad Hargett’s black jeans will wear through just as mine are, but for now they’re prestine. He protects them well, moving with small steps and never letting himself get out of control – stress and friction are the end of jeans. His jeans don’t even have lint on them and they’re black. I have a feeling those two will be together for a long time.

I bought their Crystal Stilts 12″. It’s got 6 tracks from their Shattered Shine 7″ and their previous self-titled 12″. The vinyl is black like Hargett’s jeans and it’ll eventually wear out just the same – stress and friction are the end of vinyl. My relationship with the 12″ will last much longer than that with my Levi’s. Of course the record will wear out eventually, but by then I may not even care.

It was good while it lasted.

Crystal Stilts and Alight of Night are out now.
