Last Show at the Abbey Lounge Tomorrow Night
For the first few years after high school people return home around Thanksgiving. Everyone gathers at a central party or bar, the only requirements being that it is a piss poor bar (see: Bennigan’s) or a shitty party (see: in a basement with too many DDs for anyone to have any fun). You mingle with your high school friends, a few of which you still keep in touch with, the majority of which you never really talked to in the first place, but now are required to exchange pleasantries with.
Where you at school? [insert school name here] Oh right, I remember. Nice. How’s that going? [insert canned response] Oh nice. [insert same question regurgitated back at you] Yeah, I’m at BU. [insert a 'Hey, remember that time?' question] Haha. Yea…Well, see you later.
Your interactions continue as such until your rip roaring drunk, or so sober you want to someone to shove soldering irons into your ears. Then you go home, and eat turkey until your so full you want a reverse j tube inserted into your intestine to remove all that gluttonous waste.
Tomorrow night you have the opportunity to do what I’ve just described or go to the last show at the Abbey Lounge. After 75 years it’s closing its doors (at least temporarily). Even if it does reopen it’s unlikely music will be a part of the refurbished venue.
It’s a shame, but that’s how things go.
The show starts at 7pm, cover is $5.
