Rock The Vote Propaganda Tour
Rock The Vote is propaganda.
They operate not to register young voters, but to register young Democratic voters under the guise of bipartisanship. Rock The Vote says about themselves,
We are creative, effective, and controlled by nobody’s agenda but our own – we tell it like it is and pride ourselves on being a trusted source for information on politics.
Unfortunately, their agenda is purely Democratic and thus they lose any semblence of credibility in providing political information.
The organization is currently planning a tour with artists such as Talib Kweli, Santogold, and Q-Tip, all of whom have publicly endorsed Barack Obama. To make things worse, the tour visits only the key battleground states of Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, and Pennsylvania.
The itinerary of the tour along with the selection of artists makes it painfully obvious that Rock The Vote’s mission is not to get the youth involved in the (small d) democratic process, but to get the young voters who may decide this election (for Barack Obama) to get out and vote.
Rock The Vote’s bipartisan facade is shameful. They are propaganda. Don’t believe the hype.

the American electorat is not reasonable enough to merit a more informed, that is to say transparent, form of political discourse. This applies especially to the “youth”. Rock the Vote or join the army, things will can only get worse until the mechanisms of control are seized/ renegotiated by an body of disinterested academics- call them philosopher kings.
