Justice of the Unicorns, Tigers and Monkeys @ the Middle East, 9.3.08
The woman and man standing behind me last night were thumbing through the 27th anniversary edition of The Noise. She spoke about how she moonlighted as a concert review writer and then recalled a time she was sent to review a concert with a photographer. Except, she wasn’t really sent to review the show because she was given no credentials, had to buy her ticket, and wait in line like everyone else.
So they were thumbing through The Noise so she could figure out how the reviewers wrote, and then do something “totally outside of the box.” She scoffed at their writing style as she skimmed through the reviews. He told her to be the “Hunter S. Thompson of music journalism,” and to, “go Gonzo on that shit.”
Oh, and bands played too. Justice of the Unicorns and Tigers and Monkeys played, both with less than a full set of band members. Russ drank a half dozen tall cans of PBR. He sang about Jesus, Jesus’ girlfriend, and how nice she was to clean his robe.

Many thanks to Ryan for putting together the show.
