What I’ve Been Listening To: V.1, P.18

Three sets of music have been dominating my time.

First, Billy’s introductory Dylan mix. Although I’m not new to Dylan, I had never heard Dylan’s poem to Woodie Guthrie. Also, Billy’s song selection is dead on so it’s a solid mix regardless of one’s familiarity with Bob Dylan.

Second, Chairlift’s self-titled debut. It’s a great blend of John Hughes pop and dreamy musings. I’m well aware John Hughes never wrote music but listen to Planet Health and tell me you don’t feel like you’re in a John Hughes movie, in a good way. I’ll have more on the upcoming release from the Brooklyn band and how to properly listen to the record to maximize the John Hughes Effect (wiki entry coming soon).

Third, the upcoming solo EP from Saara, one fourth of You Can Be A Wesley. The EP will be available via her myspace in the future. I’ll have more on the EP and how to obtain it soon.

That doesn’t fill up a full muxtape so I’m adding the new tracks to last weeks and of course Billy’s is a muxtape all its own.
