Country Musician Teams Up with Fritos, Fat Fans Expected en Masse
In absurd, yet completely appropriate news…
Billboard is reporting that Frito brand chips has purchased the rights to be the official snack of Tim McGraw’s Live Your Voice tour. They join KC Masterpiece barbeque sauce and Kingsford Charcoal on the list of food and food related items backing Tim McGraw.
The whole thing seems like a genius strategy for all parties involved. Fast food and grilling companies attaching themselves to a country singer seems like a no-brainer. I mean, when I go see Tim McGraw in concert I want four things: beer, salty chips, BBQ sauce lathered steak, ribs, or burgers, and, charcoal to write “I <3 Tim” on my chest with.
In addition to sponsoring the tour McGraw will get his own flavor and a special concert DVD/Fritos Tin will be released.
No word yet on whether the news will spark a bitter battle between McGraw and Stephen Colbert over celebrity-Frito-Lay-chip-superiority. I’ll be waiting anticipatorily.
