Show News & Notes
There are some interesting shows coming up over the next few days I wanted to highlight.
First, tonight at the Paradise is Saul Williams. He’s touring to promote and probably earn the funds he lost through the online sale of his album. I claim innocence as I was more than willing to shell out the $5 for the FLAC version of the Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust. In fact, it seems as if he’s removed the free option altogether.
The album did not receive too much recognition, but I enjoyed it very much and would say it was well worth the $5. Even with all that said, it’s tough to feel bad for the guy given the fact he’s probably now made a shit-ton of royalties from List of Demands. The song is featured on the superb Nike Sparq ads.
He’s playing alongside Dragons of Zynth who were in town recently with Celebration.
Second, Langhorne Slim is playing upstairs at the Middle East along side Hymns and Jennifer O’Connor on Thursday, April 10th. Langhorne is getting publicity all over the place including a performance on Letterman. The Letterman gig is nothing special, but his raspy voice and enthusiastic folk sound makes me believe he should be a site to see when he’s allowed to let loose.

Man Man is playing with Yeasayer on Saturday April 12th at Paradise. Last time Yeasayer was in town they played Great Scott. The show was $10 and sold out before I had a chance to get tickets. I sent some inquiries out on Craig’s List but was responded to with laughable requests of $40 or more dollars.
Yeasayer’s All Hours Cymbals is impossible not to thoroughly enjoy and I’m almost positive if you don’t smile or at least feel happier while listening to Red Cave your soul has been eaten.
Man Man’s Rabbit Habits and Six Demon Bag are both hit or miss, but both are definitely quirky fun and both hit more than they miss.
Finally, Hot Chip is playing on April 14th at the Paradise. Made in the Dark is my favorite piece they’ve done. Plus, they’re bizarre enough to warrant a live viewing.
