The Replacements Live in Minneapolis circa 1981
I’m not sure how they did it, but Twin Tone was able to record a two set performance of the Replacements in 1981 with absolutely remarkable audio and visual quality. The set seems to capture the band before they were totally ravaged by excess drinking and drugs. It’s amazing to think that Tommy Stinson was only 14 (and looks not a day older) when the footage was shot. The band is tight and provides a wonderfully dirty version of Chuck Berry’s Maybelline.
The whole set of videos is a must watch and I definitely recommend downloading the entire video set (for free) for prosperities sake. Enjoy!
